4/30/05 Saturday Pack Picnic Update
------------------------------------------
Folks, the Pack 393 Picnic scheduled for today at Tannehill has been CANCELLED. Many of our events were going to be held in the dirt parking lots which will now be muddy. I was out there yesterday and there were many campers on the grassier areas that we could have used had they not been there. We appreciate your time and effort and will plan an event for the fall.
Thanks,
Ed Dolensky

Pack 393 Summertime 2005 Program
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the summer of 2005 Pack 393 will keep going strong with monthly Pack activities as part of its Summertime Program. Each month the boys can stay involved in Cub Scouting and build momentum into our 2005/2006 program year. We encourage the boys to come to each activity that they can; if a boy attends all 3 events he will receive a special "sun" pin to wear on his uniform. Each event will be loaded with FUN and be loaded with MEMORIES.
A. June 18, 2005 (Saturday) - Doors open at 6 p.m. for Pack 393 Movie Night @ Discovery UMC with a kid-appropriate movie on the big screen in the worship center. The movie will start at 6:30 and should be over around 8:30 p.m. (depending on movie run time). Cubs should wear their blue Pack t-shirts. Brothers and sisters can come too....
B. July xx-xx, 2005 - Have your son attend Cub Scout Summer Camp! Get a head start on your next rank requirements by attending Summer Camp. Check the Boy Scout website at www.vulcandistrict.org for more information. There are two types of summer camp:
- Day Camp at Oak Mountain State Park. Day-time only 5 days from July 25-29. Pack 393 recommends Day Camp for Cubs finishing their Tiger and Wolf ranks this year.
- Resident Camp at Camp Sequoyah near Anniston. There are two sessions available: July 17-19 and 20-22. Your son will spend 2 nights and 3 days here. Pack 393 recommends Resident Camp for Bears beginning their Webelo I year and returning Webelos.
Check with your den leader on your den's plans. Each den must make sure there is adequate adult supervision at summer camp. Summer Camp is bound to create wonderful memories!
C. August 14, 2005 (Sunday) - Come roller skate with Pack 393 as we finish up our summertime program and get ready for the next year. Join us at Roller Motion Skating Rink on Morgan Road from 5-7 p.m. for lots of fun, bumps, and speed as we get the year cranked up again. Anyone (Mom, Dad, Cub, brother, or sister) can come skate with us for $3 which includes regular roller skates. In-line skate are an additional $2. Again, Cubs should wear their blue Pack t-shirt. Invite a friend to join Cub Scouting and show them how much fun they can have with Pack 393.
That's all there is to the Summertime Program for Pack 393. Another year of FUN begins with our regular Pack 393 program on Monday, September 12 at 7 p.m. at Discovery!

April 11, 2005 Pack Meeting Agenda and Plans
Folks, we have our Pack Graduation Ceremony coming up next week at our April Pack meeting. If your son has completed his rank requirements he will receive his rank at either the April or May Pack meetings. However, as a group we recognize the boys with a "graduation" ceremony here at our April Pack meeting. Your sons will need some new uniform items for Monday April 11. Here are the needs:
1. Tigers moving to Wolves (Dykes and Atkinson dens): Need a YELLOW neckerchief and a Cub Scout Slide (same for Wolves and Bears).
2. Wolves moving to Bears (Kent and Canady dens): Need a BLUE neckerchief and reuse slide from this year.
3. Bears moving to Webelo I (Beatty, Callahan, Bodden dens): Need a Webelo PLAID neckerchief, Webelo neckerchief slide, khaki shirt, blue epelets (shoulder tabs).
4. Webelo I moving to Webelo II (Ron and Kidd dens): no change, nothing new required.
I suggest one person be designated for each den to pick up the needs of the den. Call the Scout Shop before going to make sure they have needs in stock. Exception might be Bears who would need to try on the khaki shirts. You can get the next rank handbooks now or wait till this summer.
At our April 11 Pack meeting we will have details on our Pack Summertime Program as well. I look forward to seeing all of you at 7 p.m. next Monday night! We will have a presentation on Summer Camp at our May 9 Pack meeting.
